The Platform Manager Electronics will play a pivotal role in the development and management of electronic platforms for the product portfolio of our medical device company. This role combines the responsibilities of a systems engineer, architect, and technical project leader in identifying platform opportunities, defining modular components with clearly specified interfaces, and creating a roadmap for platform components. Typical platform components include electronic modules such as power supplies, embedded PCs/control units, and wireless interfaces.

  • Define strategic goals for electronic platform development in alignment with company objectives.

  • Analyze product roadmaps and system architectures to identify opportunities for platform development.

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive roadmap for platform components, supporting product roadmap needs and business objectives.

  • Monitor industry trends and technological advancements to drive innovation in platform development and inform roadmap updates.

  • Lead technical projects related to platform development from conception through implementation as well as during lifecycle management.

  • Coordinate with product development teams, external partners, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of platform components.

  • Oversee the integration and validation of platform components to ensure compliance with industry standards and provide technical support for international registrations (e.g. CE, FCC, IC, TELEC).

  • Facilitate communication between engineering, product management, lifecycle management, and other relevant functions.

  • Present platform strategies and updates to senior management and other stakeholders.

Ihr Profil

  • Educational Background: University degree in electrical, mechanical, systems engineering, physics, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Experience: Several years of professional experience in product development as part of cross-functional teams within a regulated industry, preferably medical devices, and a successful track record in developing complex components.

  • Platform Development: Initial experience in platform development or product line engineering and a successful track record in developing modular platforms and/or managing complex projects.

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of electronic components such as power supplies and PCs/control units, including knowledge of relevant processor architectures (e.g. x86, ARM), bus systems (e.g. CAN, CAN-FD, TLS), and Linux-based embedded RTOS (e.g. Zephyr, Yocto). Sound knowledge in the field of state-of-the-art wireless applications (e.g. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth).

  • Preferred Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of relevant standards and regulations, such as IEC 60601-1-2, ISO 14971, ISO 13485, MDR, and FDA 21 CFR 820.

  • Communication and Collaboration Skills: Effective communication and interpersonal skills, experience in managing a diverse group of stakeholders, and enjoyment in working with international and diverse teams.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Language Skills: Business fluency in English and German, both written and spoken.
