Planner/Senior Planner (Environmental Planning & Design)

[What the role is]

Environmental Planning & Design:
To champion the importance of environmentally sustainable, ecologically friendly designs and best practices as aligned with the Sustainability by Planning & Design workstream.
To establish environmentally sustainable and ecologically friendly planning and design related strategies, standards, methodologies, best practices and solutions that are relevant to JTC industrial estates and developments e.g. biophilic design, nature-based solutions, etc.

[What you will be working on]

• Strengthen in-house capabilities in developing conceptual plans and designs for environmental design related scope i.e. landscape master plan, streetscape, integrated green and blue infrastructure as part of the master planning and urban design for JTC industrial estates and developments

• Work closely with the relevant internal divisions in the planning and design of environmentally sustainable and ecologically friendly JTC industrial estates and developments, including analysis and assessment of potential impact and practical mitigation measures/solutions e.g. preservation and conservation of ecosystems and biodiversity; nature based solutions to manage of surface run off, flood zones and coastal erosion zones; assessment on impact to wetlands and habitats, etc. Liaise with relevant agencies to establish or review environmental design related frameworks, processes and policies e.g. Green Cover, LUSH, WSUD, GreenMark, etc.

• Oversee the various projects in JTC that go through the government’s EIA framework, and work with the relevant JTC Divisions, the nature groups and other relevant stakeholders to find the balance between preserving areas with rich biodiversity and development on JTC estates to meet Singapore’s needs such as economic growth and food resilience.

[What we are looking for]

Officers with relevant disciplines in Engineering/Architecture/Planning. In addition, work experience in Environmental Planning, Ecological Studies or Landscape Architecture is an advantage.
