This position is for our Extendicare Red River Place Home, located in Selkirk, Manitoba

Available opportunities include: Part-Time; Day/Evening/Night shifts



What you’ll be doing

  • Assessment of people with physical dysfunction of the cardio-pulmonary, musculo-skeletal and neurological systems

  • Planning and implementation of care plans to improve movement, function, pain, and optimize overall function

  • Assignment of duties and supervision of non-regulated rehabilitation providers (e.g., rehabilitation aides and/or occupational therapy/physiotherapy assistants)

  • Documentation of assessments and progress in the electronic health record

  • Participation in resident and family education, including but not limited to care conferences

  • Participation in quality improvement and enhancement initiatives at the home and regional levels (e.g., falls prevention)

  • Collaboration with the inter-professional healthcare team, residents and their families to achieve set resident goals and adjust the care plan as needed

  • Provide education to the interprofessional team to support evidence-based care

  • Participation in the education of health professions students, including preceptorship of physiotherapy and rehabilitation aide students



What you bring

  • Two (2) years clinical experience in the relevant clinical area with preference for working with seniors and/or in long-term care

  • Entry-to practice degree in physiotherapy from an accredited Canadian university program or the approved equivalent if internationally educated

  • Registered on the practicing roster of the College of Physiotherapists of Manitoba and in good standing

  • Membership with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association preferred or willingness to register as a condition of employment

  • Knowledge of culturally competent care

  • Proficiency in Point Click Care and Microsoft Office applications

  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated effective decision making and problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional working relationships with staff, leaders and external stakeholders

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Excellent work and attendance record
