Research Scientist Intern 

About the Role 

We are seeking a dedicated a Master’s or PhD-level student in Health Economics or a related quantitative discipline to join the Data Science & Engineering (DSE) team for a 12–14 week full-time paid internship.

The DSE team develops Python-based simulation modeling and decision analysis software to address challenges faced by biopharmaceutical clients. 

As a Research Scientist intern, you will have the opportunity to implement sophisticated health economic models that assess the cost-effectiveness of medical technologies. You will receive mentorship from a multidisciplinary team, gaining valuable insights and hands-on industry experience solving real-world problems within the pharmaceutical industry. You will begin with a structured onboarding period to learn modeling frameworks and internal tools, followed by participation in a client-facing modeling project.

What You Will Do

  • Conceptualize a cohort or microsimulation model
  • Utilizeadvanced techniques such as generalized risk-adjusted cost-effectiveness (GRACE) 
  • Producereproducible results presented through an interactive report or web application.  
  • Presentyour findings to team members and/or clients 

All work will be performed in close collaboration with DSE team members to enhance your development experience. Interns will participate in sound-checking and results review sessions, receiving feedback and guidance throughout the internship. 

Ideal candidates are collaborative and intellectually curious with a desire to expand their skills and knowledge. Successful candidates will have good written and verbal communication skills in addition to strong technical skills.  

Responsibilities 

  • Contribute to technical reports and documentation describing health economic methods and modeling results
  • Learn and apply internal modeling software to produce model outputs
  • Communicate findings effectively through presentations, web applications, and written reports
  • Collaborate with team members to validate model outputs and review results

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s or PhD program in Health Economics, Decision Science, Biostatistics, Economics, or a related quantitative field
  • Understanding of cost-effectiveness analysis or health economic modeling
  • Experience writing technical documents, presentations, or research manuscripts
  • Basic programming experience in Python, R, SAS, or similar analytical languages
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
