Location: Auckland CBD
Part-time | Permanent | NZMA Auckland Central
This is a permanent part-time position, working 16 hours per week. Ideally, the hours will be worked across Monday and Tuesday, although there may be some flexibility to work one of these days on an alternative weekday.
About the role:
As a Pharmacy Technician Tutor, you’ll use your New Zealand pharmacy experience to help prepare the next generation of Pharmacy Technicians for successful careers.
You’ll deliver practical, engaging on-campus learning, sharing your knowledge of community pharmacy, pharmaceutical practice and the skills technicians need in the workplace. You’ll create a supportive, hands-on learning environment where students build confidence in pharmacy retail operations, professional conduct, customer service, patient communication and providing accurate health advice.
This is a part-time role, working two days per week, making it a great opportunity for someone looking for greater work-life balance or wanting to combine teaching with their current pharmacy career. You can stay connected to the profession while using your experience to make a meaningful difference in the careers of others.
About you:
You’re passionate about pharmacy and excited by the opportunity to share your knowledge and support future Pharmacy Technicians.
You’ll be either an experienced Pharmacy Technician with a NZ Certificate in Pharmacy Technician Level 5 or NZ Diploma in Pharmacy Technician (Specialist) Level 6, or a New Zealand Registered Pharmacist.
You’ll bring strong knowledge across areas such as anatomy and physiology, OTC medicines, dispensing and calculations, compliance packaging, compounding, pharmacy legislation and clinical professionalism.
You’ll also bring:
- Proven pharmacy industry experience in New Zealand
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to connect with and support students from diverse backgrounds
- Patience, adaptability and a willingness to try new approaches
- A genuine passion for sharing your knowledge and helping others succeed
- A positive, enthusiastic and supportive approach
Teaching experience is an advantage, but it’s not essential. We’ll provide comprehensive training, teaching tools and ongoing support to help you gain adult teaching qualifications and build your confidence as an educator.
If you’re looking for a role that offers flexibility, purpose and the opportunity to stay connected to the pharmacy industry, this could be the ideal next step in your career.
