Pharmacy Technician II – Specialty Pharmacy:
This position exists to provide technical expertise in the specialty pharmacy by making patient calls, preparing medications for delivery, and completing technician-related duties. This role is primarily based in a call center with rotating shifts to prepare orders for delivery.
Primary Work Location:
Main Campus: Specialty Pharmacy Call Center and Shipping Area
Schedule:
Monday – Friday
Shifts vary between 7:30am and 5:00pm
7:30am – 4:00pm (Shipping)
8:00am – 4:30pm (Shipping)
8:30am – 5:00pm (Call Center)
Possible Hybrid after training and clearing probation

Essential Functions:
- Accepts prescription, establishes billing/patient charges, documents patient’s allergies correctly, interprets and enters information regarding the outpatient prescription into the computer system.
- Prepares and packages injectables and oral medication for outpatient use.
- Independently resolves on-line adjudication problems with Third Party Payors, without pharmacist intervention.
- Extemporaneously compounds medication which is not commercially available (i.e. suspensions, ointments, liquids, capsules, powders, etc.) under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Replenishes pharmacy stock area and notifies pharmacist or inventory coordinators of any problems or concerns.
- Assists in orientation and training for new Outpatient Pharmacy Technicians and interns. Ensures that the trainees are competent to function in the outpatient pharmacy area.
Education Requirement:
- As required by listed licensure and/or certification requirement.
- Bachelor's Degree, preferred.
Licensure Requirement:
Registered with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (Registered or Certified Pharmacy Technician), required.
Certifications:
Certification as a pharmacy technician or documented passing score on certification exam prior to start date (PTCB, ExCPT), required.
Skills:
Demonstrated skills in algebra by passing score on math competency administered on site.
Experience:
Two years of experience as a pharmacy technician (preferably in a setting appropriate for the position, e.g. outpatient, hospital, etc), required.
