About the role
- As a Pharmacy Intern, you will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and become an integral part of our long-term care pharmacy team. This role provides hands-on experience in various aspects of pharmacy operations, helping prepare you for a successful career as a licensed pharmacist. You will be joining a collaborative environment focused on patient safety, workflow efficiency, and compliance with all regulatory standards.
What you'll do
- Assist pharmacists in dispensing medications, including reviewing and preparing prescriptions
- Conduct data entry of prescription information into the pharmacy system
- Communicate with healthcare providers to clarify prescription details and resolve issues
- Support medication packaging, labeling, and delivery prep under pharmacist supervision
- Help maintain proper inventory levels and perform expiration date checks
- Participate in medication reconciliation and chart reviews as assigned
- Observe and learn regulatory requirements specific to long-term care pharmacy
- Provide exceptional customer service to nursing staff, caregivers, and patients’ families
- Complete projects and training modules designed to support your learning and professional growth
- Assist Pharmacist in Patient Chart Reviews
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an accredited School of Pharmacy (P1–P4 year)
- Strong interest in long-term care or community pharmacy settings
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Clear and professional communication, both written and verbal
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a commitment to accuracy and quality
- Proficiency with basic computer skills; familiarity with pharmacy software is a plus
- Reliable, team-oriented, and eager to learn
- Available to work part-time hours during the academic year or full-time in the summer
