This is a collaborative and fast-paced environment where global standardisation, process excellence and regulatory compliance are key priorities.
ING is transitioning towards a more globally steered and standardised operating model, supported by Workday and global processes. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape and optimise how compensation is managed across ~40 countries.
Roles & Responsibilities
Global Compensation Process Ownership & Optimisation
You drive the continuous optimisation and redesign of global compensation processes, ensuring they are efficient, scalable and fully embedded across the organisation. This includes key frameworks such as Global Job Architecture (GJA), regulatory requirements (including CSRD topics such as gender pay gap and living wage), equity processes and the further development of the Variable Remuneration (VR) starting point.
You take ownership of translating regulatory and strategic requirements into practical, implementable processes and ensure consistent execution across countries.
End-to-End Ownership of the Annual Compensation Round
You have full accountability for the design, orchestration and delivery of the annual compensation round. This includes coordinating all process streams and stakeholders, ensuring alignment across HR, Finance and business teams.
You lead the build-up of the target variable remuneration pool, facilitate calibration and feedback rounds, manage change requests and ensure a clear, effective communication approach towards all stakeholders. You continuously identify opportunities to improve the process and enhance the overall employee and manager experience.
Strategic Partnership with Finance
You build and maintain a strong partnership with Finance to align and optimise the salary increase budget process. You ensure high-quality inputs for the compensation round, improve financial planning and forecasting alignment and strengthen end-to-end governance of compensation spend.
Workday & Process Implementation
You support and further enhance the implementation of Workday Advanced and Core Compensation, ensuring that system capabilities align with global processes and regulatory requirements. This includes process design, testing, country engagement and continuous improvement of system functionality (including off-cycle processes).
Change Leadership and Stakeholder Management
You act as a key spokesperson and coordinator for major change requests towards IT (AMS), reporting teams and COO People. You ensure prioritisation, alignment and effective delivery of enhancements and changes impacting compensation processes.
You actively manage relationships with internal stakeholders (HR, Finance, senior business leaders) and external providers, ensuring strong collaboration and effective delivery.
Remuneration Strategy & Standards
You contribute to the development of global remuneration standards and frameworks, ensuring alignment with ING’s Performance & Reward strategy and evolving regulatory landscape. You work closely with countries to translate these standards into practical implementation.
How to Succeed
You are a driven Reward professional with extremely good social and communication skills. You not only identify with our objectives and culture but are also able to make a real difference by propagating this culture. In addition, you recognize yourself in the following qualities:
You have more than 10 years’ experience in Reward at a multinational company. You have ran compensation rounds independently and designed remuneration schemes including complex annual compensation reviews, executive compensation, policy development and role out. Due to the complex regulatory framework we operate within experience with reward at a financial industry sector company is considered a benefit;
You are a pleasant person to work with, able to work both as a team member and independently and you have experience in leading global projects;
You are a trusted sparring partner for HR Directors and Business Partners as well as line managers. You identify business issues and are able to develop possible solutions. You have a strong personality in order to deal with senior management;
You are able to determine the planning and budget, identify project risks, organise teams and monitor progress of various projects simultaneous. You are result-oriented and take responsibility and ownership;
Furthermore, you are capable of presenting your ideas in a clear and convincing manner;
You are able to quickly deliver on both day-to-day activities as well as projects, while maintaining great follow through and attention to detail. While doing so, you are proactive, resourceful, and are willing to go the extra mile;
You are able to manage large data-sets and analytics / reporting suites;
You have the ability to plan and execute an Annual Compensation Review in a matrix environment;
You have the ability to effectively communicate and partner with colleagues within and outside of HR as well as with senior business stakeholders from Finance, Risk etc;
