Patient Safety Assistant

Nebraska Medicine is seeking a Patient Safety Assistant. This role is focused on monitoring is responsible for observing and interacting with confused, violent, combative, or suicidal patients to prevent injury. They assist with basic patient care functions and notify nursing staff for immediate interventions when needed. They remain in the room at all times, except for breaks, and may also observe multiple patients via video monitoring. This role is crucial for ensuring patient safety, early detection of health issues, and timely medical intervention.

Full-Time and Part-Time Opportunities Available

Available Shifts:

  • Evening Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM

Scheduling Details:

  • Flexible self-scheduling allows you to select available shifts that fit your lifestyle.

  • Team members are scheduled for a minimum of 2 shifts per week (16 hours).

  • To support scheduling flexibility, candidates must be available to work 3-4 days per week, although they may not be scheduled on all available days.

  • Shifts are available 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays.

Location: Primarily located at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE. Required to float to the Bellevue Medical Center occasionally.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 18 years of age required.

  • High school education OR equivalent required.

  • Excellent communication and behavioral management skills that promote safety of confused or suicidal patients required.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Health care student, military medic experience OR comparable work experience in a health care environment preferred.
