Job Description:
This employee ensures safe and efficient patient throughput within UofL Health. To accomplish this goal, the Patient Placement Coordinator will work with all persons needed to evaluate appropriate placement and facilitate communication among physicians, patient transportation providers, nursing staff, and ancillary teams regarding patient throughput.
Essential Functions:
• Evaluates, processes, and tracks all bed requests for UofL Health
• Efficiently assigns appropriate bed placements for all patients needing an inpatient UofL Health bed in accordance with department goals
• Coordinate with Transfer Center RNs in continuous review of TeleTracking information to ensure all bed requests are accurate
• Proficient working knowledge of Hospital Capabilities & Unit Scopes of Service within each UofL Health Inpatient facility
• Participates regularly in all UofL Health Inpatient Facility capacity management huddles
• Proactively identifies patient throughput barriers and facilitates escalation to appropriate team
• Establishes and maintains strong relationships and communication with facility leadership and Transfer Center RNs in order to provide efficient patient throughput and excellent patient experience

Additional Job Description:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience:
• Two (2) years of inpatient hospital experience (required)
• Five (5) years of inpatient hospital experience (preferred)
