A Glimpse into Your New Role
As a Patient Coordinators, your primary responsibilities include providing a welcoming environment for patients and ensuring smooth communication. You’re well-versed in all office locations, contact details, and procedures, which allows you to effectively answer patient inquiries and guide them through their appointment process.
Below is an in-depth description of your responsibilities:
- Patient Interaction:
- Greet patients warmly and professionally.
- Answer patient questions regarding appointment details and general inquiries.
- Inform patients if a referral is needed before their appointment.
- Appointment Management:
- Schedule, reschedule, or cancel patient appointments based on their needs.
- Proactively call patients to reschedule in case of any schedule changes.
- Document all patient interactions and appointment changes in the EMR system.
- Patient Screening and Information Management:
- Ask screening questions to determine the appropriate location for patient appointments.
- Update and correct patient insurance information as needed.
- Communication and Coordination:
- Transfer patients to the correct department when necessary.
- Create letters for patients who missed their appointments for mailing.
- Knowledge and Office Coordination:
- Maintain knowledge of all office locations, fax numbers, and contact information to assist patients effectively.
