Job description

1. Promote a safe, cooperative and professional health care environment to ensure optimum patient care (as per HR Policy 113c).

2. Adheres to all hospital policies, procedures, rules and regulations, including but not limited to, absenteeism, ETIME, cellular telephone usage, dress code and rules of conduct.

3. Makes Customer Service a priority, treating customers (patients, visitors, and co-workers) in a professional manner, exercising courtesy and tact. Effectively communicates with patients and others about SBH services in their area(s) of expertise or responsibility and ensures that concerns, questions or issues reach the right person(s) in SBH in a timely fashion.

4. Electronic registration of patients. 

5. Collects signatures for all needed documents during registration.

6. Verification and entry of personal and visit data.

7. Verification and entry of insurance information or other financial information pertaining to the patient’s account.

8. Evaluate and assign self-pay patients to the appropriate fee category.

9. May schedule appointments for follow-up treatment.

10. Prepare transportation vouchers and ambulate requests for patients.

11. Counsel patients in correct clinic procedures and provide information on clinic services by telephone.

12. Create claims, checking for correct encounter number and procedure codes.

13. Check receipts to confirm payment and enter into patient record.

14. Proficient in Epic

15. Accept cash or electronic payment for service provided.

16. Works on assigned Epic Work Q’s, schedules patients from wait list, follow-up of patients called.

17. Checks for prior authorizations needed for procedures are current or currently approved. New approvals added to chart.

18. Revises financial patient contracts and confirms payments prior to procedures.

19. Scans all patient documents to chart on a daily basis

20. Makes, reschedules, cancels and confirms appointments. 

21. Answers incoming calls/checks voicemails daily and returns all calls at downtimes daily.

22. Checks insurances daily for next day appointments. Call Pt. if an issue arises.
