Day in the Life of a Medical Director

  • Evaluate and manage patients with opioid use disorder in our outpatient clinic settings

  • Prescribe appropriate medications and treatments as indicated by patient assessment

  • Complete medical documentation per Crossroads standards

  • Collaborate with clinic staff to provide holistic care to patients, including referrals to other medical providers and community services

  • Provide injections if needed

  • APP collaboration​

Schedule & Locations

  • Primary center: Tyler

  • Target weekly hours: 8 hours (in person once a week 5am-11am and admin work no more than 30 minutes 4 days a week)

Education and Licensure Requirements

  • MD or DO with an active, unrestricted Texas medical licensure, DEA and authorized to practice medicine in Texas.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in addiction medicine, preferably with experience treating patients with opioid use disorder (OUD) and/or providing medication for opioid use disorder.

  • Board certified in primary specialty in one of the following: Family Practice/Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, General Practice, Psychiatry

  • Experience in an Opioid Treatment Program (OTP), substance use disorder (SUD) treatment setting, addiction medicine practice or similar clinical environment,

  • Must meet applicable requirements of the Texas Administrative Code governing Narcotic Treatment Programs and Medical Directors.
