Part-time IT/CS lecturer

Olivet Institute of Technology (OIT) is one of 8 schools of Olivet University, an accredited institution of Biblical higher education based in California since 2004. 

OIT’s aim is to educate and dispatch pioneering leaders to apply science and technology that will best advance Christian mission, community-building, and service in the 21st century, especially among “the least of these” (Matthew 25:40).

We draw on experts in various fields of technology, as well as entrepreneurs and investors from the Olivet community to offer programs that support the University’s mission to serve as a “seedbed for mission” that changes the world: 

• An Undergraduate Program (Bachelor of Arts in Information Technology) enrolling future leaders from around the world for a Biblical values-based, technology focused educational experience. Every B.A. in IT graduate essentially earns a double major, comprised of a primary major in Bible and Theology and a second major in Information Technology. 

• A Graduate Program (Master of Arts in Information Technology) enrolling Christian leaders in a program emphasizing academics and practice together, centered on project-based learning.

Olivet Institute of Technology is located on Olivet University’s technology campus in downtown San Francisco. The University also is establishing an OIT graduate program in Information Technology in New York City. Olivet’s New York location is already up and running with MBA courses from Olivet Business School in Manhattan’s Financial District. Olivet University’s future principle campus home in Dover, New York will open with educational programs as early as next year – complete with Olivet Tech Park that will generate synergies across OIT and the global Olivet University community.

Olivet Institute of Technology (OIT) invites applications for an on-going pool of part-time course instructors to teach various computer science and information technology courses. Course topics include, but are not limited to, OOP & Java programming, Networking, Database and Data Mining, Operate System Design, Software Engineering, SOA & Web Services, Mobile and Cloud Computing.

Candidates with experience to teach courses in one or more of the above areas are encouraged to apply.

Job responsibilities include but not limited to: create course syllabus; prepare and give lectures; develop, distribute, and/or grade course materials, homework, quizzes; write, proctor, and grade examinations; maintain and timely submit class records, such as attendance and grade reports. 

Current Open Positions: 

• Nov.2015 ~ Dec. 2015 - We are hiring one instructor to deliver 12 hours introductory workshops on Database System/Relational Database, NoSQL, Data Mining, Data Warehouse and Big Data

• Winter 2015 – Jan. 2016 ~ Mar. 2016

o Instructor for Computer & Network Security, Web Technology & Development and Data Science

• Ph.D. in Information Technology, Computer Science or relative fields

• College level teaching and/or training seminars experience preferred

Work Location:

Course will be taught online from New York to students at San Francisco, CA. It would turn into an onsite/full-time position after OIT gets NY state approval to offer courses onsite in the university NYC extension.
