Position responsible for preparing patients and the environment prior to surgery for the medical and nursing team.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred

Licenses/Certifications (None)

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and read and write English
  • Ability to perform duties requiring standing, walking, stooping, bending and lifting up to 50 pounds

Principal  Accountabilities

  • Assists with physical preparation of patient and physical environment prior to surgery according to the age/needs of the patient/population served; transports and transfers patients as necessary.
  • Functions as a porter between departments ensuring required medical supplies, information, specimens, and products are delivered in a timely fashion
  • Ensures safe care to patients adhering to policies, procedures, and standards of care, within budgetary specifications, including time management, supply management, and accuracy of practice.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as a resource to less experienced staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
