Safely and efficient operation of steam boilers, monitoring and adjusting boiler controls, operate the water treatment system, performing routine monitoring including reading gauges, water and steam quality, performing lab analyses and recording the data. Performing equipment trouble shooting and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operating and maintaining high-pressure boilers, including starting up and shutting down the boiler, monitoring boiler performance, and adjusting controls as needed to maintain safe and efficient operation.
- Performing routine inspection on boilers, including cleaning, lubricating, and troubleshooting problems to identify and resolve issues.
- Monitoring and recording boiler and water performance data, such as temperature, pressure, water hardness, and reporting any abnormalities or concerns to supervisors or maintenance staff.
- Operating the well water system, including softener system, reverse osmosis system, fire protection, plant wells and domestic water Maintaining a clean and organized boiler room, including storing and handling fuel, chemicals, and other hazardous materials in accordance with safety guidelines.
Other Responsibilities:
- Performs manual blowdown of Boilers, Sight Glasses, and orifice taps leg lines Checks wells and test water supply interpreting results before taking appropriate remedial action .
- Perform routine lubrication of equipment and perform semi-skilled equipment maintenance tasks and/or assist maintenance personnel on repairs.
- Prepares required permits – Lock out/tag out, Flange breaking permits, Confined space permits, Hot work permits .
- Cleans and prepares equipment for maintenance or extended outages; involves Management in cases requiring securing outside contractor resources.
REQUIREMENTS
- High School Education or equivalent. Experience in industrial manufacturing setting OR relevant work experience in industrial chemical plant.
- Previous work experience that includes a broad exposure to full-scale Boiler Operations including experience with variable source of fuel (natural gas, oil, and waste oil) preferred.
- Hands on experience troubleshooting Boiler equipment with appropriate level of mechanical/electrical aptitude. Previous work experience using well or river water as source for Boiler operations highly desirable
- Computer, Microsoft Office products, standard tools, lab equipment preferred
- Requires adequate physical strength to perform the essential job tasks (EX: ability to lift 50 pounds without mechanical assistance).
- Requires working outdoors with occasional exposure to weather and temperature extremes. Exposure to prolonged physical activity (EX: 12 hours shifts).
- Sensory faculties needed to safely perform the job duties that allow a person to react to potential or immediate hazardous conditions and to take appropriate action. Ability to wear required PPE such as common protective or safety equipment including but not limited to safety shoes, eye protection, and protection, hearing protection, hard hats, etc.
Summary Compensation & Benefits:
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. (Specific rate to be determined, but not limited to, geographic location, education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data).
Pay Range: The starting range for this position is $33.06
