As the Operations Manager – Pick Up & Delivery (PUD), you'll lead the day-to-day operations of a busy bulk freight distribution network, ensuring the safe, efficient and on-time movement of palletised freight across the Perth and regional networks.
Leading a team of frontline leaders, Drivers, Dockhands and operational employees, you'll be accountable for delivering exceptional service, driving operational performance and creating a strong safety culture across a fast-paced, high-volume freight operation.
Working closely with Linehaul, Customer Service and Branch leadership, you'll ensure freight is moved safely, efficiently and cost-effectively while meeting customer expectations.
What you'll be doing
Lead the daily Pick Up & Delivery operation, ensuring safe, efficient and on-time collection and delivery of palletised freight.
Drive performance across safety, DIFOT, productivity, fleet utilisation and operational cost.
Lead, coach and develop Supervisors and frontline operational teams to build capability and accountability.
Optimise labour, fleet and operational resources to meet daily freight volumes and customer commitments.
Ensure compliance with Chain of Responsibility (CoR), NHVR requirements, fatigue management and all workplace safety obligations.
Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities to improve service, productivity and cost.
Partner with Linehaul, Fleet, Customer Service and other operational leaders to optimise freight flow across the network.
Lead investigations into safety incidents, service failures and customer escalations, implementing sustainable corrective actions.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, customer focus and operational excellence.
What you'll bring
Demonstrated leadership experience managing high-volume transport, freight or logistics operations.
Experience leading Pick Up & Delivery, bulk freight or palletised freight operations within a fast-paced environment.
Proven ability to lead and develop large frontline, blue-collar and unionised workforces.
Strong operational and commercial acumen with experience managing productivity, labour, fleet performance and service delivery.
Sound knowledge of Chain of Responsibility (CoR), NHVR legislation, fatigue management and transport compliance.
Excellent stakeholder management, communication and problem-solving skills.
A proactive, hands-on leadership style with a passion for safety, continuous improvement and delivering outstanding customer outcomes.
