Job description

About our group:

The Global Operational Intelligence Group transforms data into actionable insights to support factory operations in delivering industry-leading hard disk drive solutions. We aim to drive Seagate factory’s digitalization and intelligence by leveraging advanced analytics, machine learning (ML), and artificial intelligence (AI) to optimize operations and unlock new business value.

About the role - you will:

  • Work closely with data scientist mentors to formulate business and engineering challenges as well‑defined AI problems, developing anomaly detection (AD) and root cause analysis (RCA) solutions for complex manufacturing processes and capacity planning controls
  • Apply advanced data science techniques—including time series foundation models for machine sensor AD problems, causal AI for RCA problems, and AI-driven optimization and reasoning of actionable parameters—to accurately model manufacturing behavior and enable data driven, resilient operational decision making
  • Design and implement scalable data and AI systems for large‑scale manufacturing datasets, leveraging Python, advanced AI/ML modeling, and enterprise analytics platforms to deliver reliable, production‑ready insights in real operating environments #internship

About you:

  • Passionate about AI/ML technology with a focus on delivering practical business value
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and effective in team environments
  • Proven ability to drive initiatives and influence key outcomes
  • Strong problem-solving mindset, with organizational and time management skills

Your experience includes:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • Substantial experience in AI/ML technologies applied to industrial use cases, including projects involving tabular data, time series data, and computer vision, in order of importance
  • Proficient in Python for model development with some experience in libraries (Polar, Scikit-learn), deep learning frameworks (PyTorch), hyperparameter tuning (Optuna), causal AI (DoWhy, PyMC), optimization and simulation (SciPy, Google OR-Tools, Evolutionary Algorithms, Mesa), GenAI-based complex reasoning (OctoTools) and evolutionary coding agents (OpenEvolve)
  • Proficiency in English for writing, speaking, and presentations

Location:

Home to 4,000+ employees, our Teparuk site produces nano-recording heads, a crucial component of the read/write functionality of a hard disk drive. Our Teparuk facility is a fun and active site. Here at work, you and your colleagues can grab breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks at our 24-7 on-site canteen and coffee shop. Get in a few laps around our running track or enjoy volleyball, ping pong, badminton or football through our on-site gymnasium and fitness center. We also offer music, dance, and yoga activities. Enjoy many on-site festivals and celebrations as well as opportunities to give back to the local community.
