Occupational Medicine Physician

The Occupational Medicine Physician shall provide programmatic occupational health services at LBNL’s employee occupational health clinic to ensure employee health, compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and best ES&H management practices. The clinical services provided shall include, but are not limited to, supervising and performing medical surveillance examinations and occupational illness and injury assessment, treatment, referral, consultation and case management for employees in a complex and dynamic research environment. Occasional evaluation and treatment of non-occupational injuries and illnesses.

Requirements

Occupational Medicine Physician Qualification Requirements:

Board eligible/certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties in Occupational Medicine, Preventive Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine or Emergency Medicine

Shall have knowledge of applicable federal, State of California and local regulations, including workers' compensation laws.

Graduation from an accredited school of medicine or a current license (CA Medical Board) to practice in the State of California are required; license must be free from disciplinary actions. Approved Licensing Authority: (https://www.mbc.ca.gov/License-Verification/default.aspx).

Shall have the ability to effectively medically supervise medical assistants, registered nurses, nurse practitioners and physician assistants in a variety of complex medical issues as well as a strong understanding of technical processes, applicable safety regulations, and program/project management. Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.

Shall be able to sit at a desk and/or be on their feet and walking at least eight (8) hours a day. Subcontractor personnel shall be able to assume and maintain various postural positions including, but not limited to, kneeling, reaching, stooping, bending, crouching, and lifting.

Desired Qualifications

Experience with Worker’s Compensation Case Management.

Have statistical analysis skills, the ability to interpret regulations, knowledge of the regulatory process and experience in monitoring regulatory developments.
