About the Internship
The New Business Development Intern will support Markham's New Business team by researching opportunities, coordinating proposal development, and helping manage the processes that bring new partnerships and projects to life.
This internship is ideal for a motivated, detail-oriented individual interested in business development, sales strategy, marketing, client engagement, and the live events industry. You'll gain hands-on experience supporting strategic growth initiatives while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced agency environment.
What You'll Do

Support research efforts to identify new business opportunities, prospective clients, partners, and industry trends

Assist with proposal development, including gathering information, formatting materials, and managing timelines

Support the preparation of presentations, pitch materials, and client-facing documents

Help maintain new business tracking tools and databases

Assist with organizing proposal libraries, templates, and other business development resources.

Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute ideas that strengthen proposals and client presentations.
- Provide administrative and project support to the New Business team as needed.

Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Event Management, Hospitality, or a related field.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Curious, resourceful, and eager to learn.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; experience with Canva, PowerPoint, or CRM platforms is a plus.

Hands-on experience supporting real business development efforts and client pursuits.

Exposure to proposal strategy, competitive research, and agency operations.

Experience collaborating with creative, production, operations, and leadership teams.

Professional mentorship and ongoing feedback.

A deeper understanding of how mission-driven organizations win and deliver impactful work.

Internship Details

Year-long internship program running September through August, providing the opportunity to gain meaningful, hands-on experience throughout the academic year.

Approximately 20–25 hours per week (flexible schedule)

Flexible scheduling designed to accommodate academic commitments.

Paid internship at $20.00 per hour.

Opportunities to work additional hours during evenings and weekends based on business needs and event schedules.

Opportunity to extend the internship or transition into future opportunities based on performance, business needs, and academic availability.

Occasional evening and weekend availability may be required to support the team during events and other peak business periods, including election cycles.

The application period for the Fall 2026/2027 Internship Program is now open, and we are reviewing applications on a rolling basis. The summer program dates will begin in September 2026 through mid-August 2026, with some flexibility.
