Network Engineer

Position: Network Engineer

Location: Richmond, VA

Duration: Contract to hire

Job description

• Advanced working knowledge of and 12+ years of professional experience with network administration of Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls

• Thorough, in-depth knowledge of and experience with TCP/IP and all layers of the OSI Model

• Considerable working knowledge of HP Proliant and HP Blade server environment

• Considerable working knowledge of Cisco UCS infrastructure

• Considerable working knowledge of EMC VNX Storage Area Network environment, including zoning configuration

• Meticulous attention to detail, skilled in authoring technical documentation, ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously and to work both independently and in a team environment

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

• Legally able to be hired as a state employee

Responsibilities:-

• Routine network administration

• Working with Office of Information Security in remediation of security vulnerabilities

• Installation of operating system, application, and hardware patches and upgrades to servers and network devices as required

• Network security configuration and administration

• Configuration and maintenance of Cisco ASA, ASR, Cube, and 6509 core switch

• Special projects installing server and network equipment and software

• Creating and maintaining network documentation as required, to include Visio diagrams

Desired but not required:

• Working knowledge of VMWare, Citrix, VPN
