Nanomedicine Research Assistant

Position Description
The Nanomedicine Research Assistant (RA) assists the Nanomedicine Principal Investigator (PI) in day-to-day activities, carrying out experiments and ensuring smooth and uninterrupted research activities.The RA will perform routine checks using an inventory list and ensure that supplies are ordered and restocked, equipment is maintained, instruments and media are autoclaved, and supplies are continually made available for researchers.  The RA is also responsible for supervising and training student researchers as they perform experiments assigned by the PI.  Additionally, the RA will assist with timely communication between researchers and schedule meetings.

Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry or related field

Work Requirements
Non-exempt (02), part-time, 30 hours/week, 10 months per year
This position requires personal attendance at Biola’s campus in La Mirada, California, but will consider a limited hybrid/flexible work arrangement.

Essential Duties
Carry out experiments and research according to protocols laid out by primary researchers and principal investigator.
Maintain cell cultures and experiments.
Oversee the collection and recording of experimental data.
Conduct statistical analyses of data sets. Prepare graphs and spreadsheets to portray results.
Ensure laboratory equipment is maintained and calibrated.
Maintain laboratory inventory including: chemicals, reagents, cell-lines, and equipment.
Submit equipment, chemical, and supply orders in Quartzy.
Supervise student interns/researchers while they are working in the lab.
Assist with related instructional bioinformatics and biochemistry software such as the ORFan genes related research.
Maintain the research group’s Google calendar, schedule meetings, and send out reminders to ensure that due dates are met.

Basic laboratory skills including: pipetting, media preparation, microscopy, and sterile techniques
Autoclaving instruments and media 
Monitoring and maintaining laboratory supplies
Ordering chemicals, reagents, and supplies
Data processing, statistical analysis, and preparation of graphs
Organizing, filing, and managing paperwork
Scheduling and handling appointments and meetings

Hiring Range: $24.00 - 28.00 per hour
