This position is part of our Signal & Power Solutions segment; Connection Systems business unit located in Saltillo, Coahuila, México.

Summary (About this Position):

Molding Tool Design Technician to be located in Saltillo, Coah. at our Saltillo Technical Center.

This position is for a Plastic Tool Design Technician, its preferred design skills.

Under the direction of a Tool Designer, the successful candidate will demonstrate design and administrative skills in order to learn about molding part and Tool design.

 The Tool Design Technician will do a variety of administrative and technical activities

Your Role (i.e. Key Job Responsibilities):

Molding Engineering Activities

  • Develop 3D models of tooling components for manufacturing applications using CAD software.
  • Create and stablish 2D drawings with stablished design std.
  • Proficiency in technical drawings interpretation (GD&T, tolerances)
  • CAD proficiency, NX preferred
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong results-orientation and execution characteristics

Later with experience the candidate will learn to:

  • Analyze CAD data, 2D drawings, 3D Models of products as the same as customer specifications to define product moldability & manufacturability
  • Identify risks related to geometry, wall thickness, draft, undercuts, and tolerances
  • Recommend design changes to improve quality, tooling feasibility, and cost
  • Create tooling concepts for tooling vendors to optimize cost and manufacturability.
  • Ensure compliance with customer specifications, tooling standards, and internal guidelines
  • Manage engineering changes when are required
  • Support lessons-learned implementation in future designs

Your Required Background (i.e. Must Haves):

  • Bachelor's degree
  • CAD Design knowledge
  • Mechanical Drawing Interpretation
  • Microfost Office Suite
  • English Conversation is Fully required

Your Preferred Background (i.e. Nice to Haves):

  • Experience using mold flow analysis software
  • Experience with CNC machining, EDM, Wire, Grinding, etc
  • Knowledge of manufacturing KPIs and financial metrics
  • knowledge of plastic materials, properties, and processing behavior
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a strong ability to work with a team
  • Ability to effectively organize, prioritize and accomplish multiple conflicting tasks, make intelligent, timely decisions and solve problems independently
