Job Description

ISP Literature Teacher Key Responsibilities

Plan, prepare, and deliver dynamic lessons in literature aligned with the school’s curriculum and academic standards.

Teach literary genres including poetry, drama, prose, and novels, highlighting historical and cultural contexts.

Develop students’ critical reading, writing, and analytical skills through essays, discussions, and projects.

Encourage independent thought, creativity, and appreciation for literature as an art form.

Assess, record, and report student progress, providing constructive feedback and academic support.

Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and abilities of students.

Integrate technology and multimedia resources to enhance student engagement.

Prepare students for internal assessments, standardized exams, and academic competitions.

Foster respectful and inclusive classroom discussions that value multiple viewpoints.

Collaborate with colleagues in curriculum design and interdisciplinary projects.

Communicate effectively with parents and guardians about student achievement and progress.

Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school events.

Ensure compliance with institutional policies, safeguarding practices, and professional standards.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

Skills

Strong command of English language and literature.

Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills.

Ability to foster critical thinking and creativity in students.

Classroom management and student engagement strategies.

Strong organizational and time-management abilities.

Cultural awareness and sensitivity to diverse perspectives.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Literature, English, Humanities, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

Teaching certification or equivalent professional qualification.

Additional training in literary theory, comparative literature, or creative writing is desirable.

Experience

Previous teaching experience in literature or English at the high school level required.

Experience in developing lesson plans and evaluating student writing and analysis.

Background in curriculum development and interdisciplinary projects preferred.

Experience working with diverse student populations is an advantage.
