About the Role

As a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) at AbbVie, you'll be a scientific expert and trusted partner to leading healthcare professionals, clinical investigators, and research institutions across Austria. This is a field-based role at the heart of our medical affairs function — where science, strategy, and relationships come together.

You'll represent AbbVie's scientific credibility in a strictly non-promotional capacity, engaging in meaningful dialogue about our approved medicines and pipeline compounds in rheumatology, and supporting clinical research across your territory.

What You'll Do

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders, investigators, and scientific institutions in rheumatology
  • Deliver credible scientific presentations on disease areas and AbbVie's pipeline
  • Support the identification and engagement of external experts for research collaborations, advisory boards, and scientific events
  • Facilitate the initiation and conduct of AbbVie-sponsored clinical trials in partnership with clinical operations teams
  • Gather and share field-based medical intelligence — including clinical practice trends, evidence gaps, and competitive landscape insights
  • Attend relevant scientific congresses and meetings
  • Support physicians with named patient or compassionate use access requests where applicable
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in full compliance with local laws, regulations, and AbbVie policies

What We're Looking For

  • Advanced degree (MD, PharmD, PhD or equivalent) in a relevant scientific discipline strongly preferred; candidates with an undergraduate degree and strong relevant experience will also be considered
  • At least 2 years' experience as an MSL, Clinical Research Associate, or similar field-based role in the pharmaceutical or medical sector
  • Strong knowledge of clinical research methodology and the pharmaceutical regulatory environment
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a track record of building trusted relationships with healthcare professionals
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving ability
  • High standards of scientific integrity and compliance
  • Fluent English and German

Why AbbVie?

We are committed to advancing science that makes a real difference to patients' lives. As an MSL, you'll have the autonomy to make an impact in your territory while being part of a collaborative, cross-functional team that genuinely values your expertise.

As an employer, we value diversity and support people in developing their potential and strengths, realizing their ideas and seizing opportunities. The job advertisement is aimed equally at all people, regardless of age, skin color, religion, gender, sexual orientation or origin. For legal reasons, we are obliged to point out that the minimum salary for this position under the collective agreement is € 2,879.00 gross per month. However, our attractive salary packages are based on current market salaries and are therefore significantly higher than the stated minimum salary.

AbbVie is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to operating with integrity, driving innovation, transforming lives and serving our community.  Equal Opportunity Employer/Veterans/Disabled.
