Mechanical Inspector

 

Industry: Oil & Gas / Petrochemical
Employment Type: Project-Based

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Conduct inspection and verification of mechanical equipment installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Inspect rotating equipment and machinery including pumps, compressors, turbines, engines, and associated systems.
  • Review mechanical fabrication, installation, alignment, assembly, and maintenance activities to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Witness mechanical testing, hydrotesting, performance testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Verify compliance with applicable codes, standards, client specifications, and QA/QC requirements.
  • Review inspection reports, test records, material certificates, NCRs, and quality documentation.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, clients, and project teams to resolve quality issues and ensure project compliance.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Oil & Gas projects, with strong exposure to rotating equipment and machinery.
  • Proven experience inspecting:
    • Pumps
    • Compressors
    • Turbines
    • Engines
    • Mechanical Packages and Equipment
  • Strong knowledge of international standards including:
    • ASME
    • API
    • ASTM
    • BS
  • Valid CSWIP 3.1 certification.
  • API 510 certification is mandatory.
  • ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification is preferred.
  • API 653 certification is an advantage but not required.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical inspection procedures, equipment testing, commissioning, and QA/QC requirements.
  • Must possess a valid passport and be willing to travel for international project assignments.

 

Preferred Experience

 

  • Refinery, Petrochemical, LNG, EPC, Offshore, and Oil & Gas Construction Projects.
  • Vendor/shop inspections and third-party inspection activities.
  • Mechanical equipment commissioning and startup support.
