Pratt & Whitney's North Berwick Engineering Center, located in beautiful Southern Maine, is currently seeking a talented and dedicated Mechanical Design Engineer Intern with the creativity, drive, and desire to see their ideas become reality.

What You Will Do

This Mechanical Design Engineering Intern position provides the opportunity to work on the full PW engine product line, including the next generation of commercial and military engines. Hardware responsibilities include components found in the compressor, turbine, and bearing compartments. The ideal candidate will have strong fundamental engineering analysis skills and a hands-on understanding of manufacturing processes. Significant interaction with internal and external customers is expected.

Typical responsibilities will include:

  • Developing conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs of gas turbine hardware including.
  • Responsibility for design configuration, including cost, weight, and producibility requirements.
  • Participation on multidisciplinary teams to develop and produce new hardware.
  • Advance gas turbine technology and mechanical design methods.
  • Support design reviews and execute Engineering Standard Work.
  • Provide production, field investigation, and aftermarket technical support.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship session.
  • Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship session.
  • Experience using computer aided design (CAD) software such as SolidWorks, Creo, Fusion 360, or equivalent.
  • Experience with mechanical hardware documentation or drawing standards.
  • Minimum 3.0 Cumulative GPA

Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
