We're Hiring: Mechanical Assembly & Systems Integration Engineer

Full-Time | Core Team

LAT Aerospace | GTE

LAT Aerospace is developing next-generation hybrid-electric aircraft that combine advanced aerodynamics, distributed propulsion, and high-performance power generation systems. We are looking for a hands-on engineer to lead the assembly, integration, and testing of gas turbine-based power systems for aerospace applications.

This role sits at the intersection of mechanical engineering, propulsion, manufacturing, and testing. You will be responsible for taking gas turbine subsystems from individual components to fully integrated, test-ready power plants.

What you’ll do

  • Assemble, integrate, and commission gas turbine engines and associated subsystems.

  • Develop and execute assembly procedures, build plans, and inspection processes.

  • Integrate fuel, lubrication, cooling, intake, and exhaust systems into complete propulsion test articles.

  • Design and fabricate engine mounts, brackets, tubing layouts, and supporting hardware.

  • Build and maintain engine test stands and ground test rigs.

  • Define and implement instrumentation layouts including temperature, pressure, flow, RPM, vibration, and strain measurements.

  • Work closely with electrical and controls engineers to integrate sensors, actuators, and data acquisition systems.

  • Support engine startup, operation, troubleshooting, and shutdown activities during testing.

  • Perform engine teardown, inspection, failure analysis, and hardware refurbishment after test campaigns.

  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to fuel delivery, lubrication, thermal management, vibrations, and mechanical reliability.

  • Generate build documentation, test reports, and maintenance procedures.

What we're looking for

  • Strong fundamentals in mechanical engineering, rotating machinery, and fluid systems.

  • Experience in working with industry standard CAD software.

  • Hands-on experience assembling and integrating complex mechanical systems.

  • Experience working with fuel systems, lubrication systems, cooling systems, and mechanical piping/tubing.

  • Familiarity with bearings, seals, shafts, fasteners, and precision mechanical assemblies.

  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and CAD models.

  • Experience working with instrumentation including pressure, temperature, flow, RPM, and vibration sensors.

  • Comfortable working with tools, fabrication equipment, prototype hardware, and test rigs.

  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.

  • Ability to independently build, modify, and debug mechanical systems.

  • Experience with gas turbines, APUs, turbochargers, microturbines, engines, or other rotating machinery is highly preferred.

Why LAT?

  • No hierarchy beyond strength of ideas.

  • Rapid hardware iteration culture.

  • Clean-sheet programs.

  • Own hardware from design through testing.

  • Opportunity to build next-generation aerospace propulsion technology from the ground up.
