Market Surveillance & Transaction Monitoring Analyst (Crypto) (BOG)

Summary:

As a Market Surveillance & Transaction Monitoring Analyst, you will play a key role in safeguarding our client's platform by reviewing and investigating alerts related to market manipulation and financial crime. Reporting directly to the Market Surveillance & Transaction Monitoring Team Lead, you will focus on identifying suspicious activities, such as wash trading, structuring, and unusual transaction patterns. You will play a hands-on role in ensuring the team operates effectively and in alignment with compliance standards. You will work closely with different departments to mitigate risks and support the ongoing development of the company’s compliance infrastructure. Key Responsibilities:

Market Surveillance

• Monitor trading activities for signs of market manipulation, including wash trading, spoofing, layering, and unusual trading volumes.
• Investigate anomalies in trading patterns to identify potential risks or violations.
• Leverage surveillance tools to detect irregularities and enhance detection capabilities.

• Review transactions flagged by monitoring systems for indicators of suspicious activity.
• Analyze large data sets to identify potential money laundering, fraud, or cryptocurrency-related risks.
• Prepare detailed reports and escalate findings to senior compliance or regulatory teams when necessary.

• Assess cryptocurrency-related transactions for risk exposure and compliance with regulatory frameworks.
• Stay informed about emerging threats and typologies in cryptocurrency markets, including mixing/tumbling services and cross-border transactions.

 

Qualifications and requirements:

• Advanced, near-native English proficiency.
• 5+ years of experience in market surveillance, transaction monitoring, or related compliance roles.
• Demonstrated knowledge of market manipulation schemes, such as wash trading, spoofing, and layering.
• Familiarity with cryptocurrency risk typologies and blockchain analytics tools.
• Proficiency with surveillance and monitoring systems (e.g., Solidus, Elliptic).
• Understanding of financial markets, trading systems, and asset classes, including cryptocurrencies.
• Strong analytical and investigative skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under tight deadlines.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., ACAMS, ICA, or similar) are highly desirable.
