As part of our global enclosures team, you’ll help ensure that every component meets Apple’s legendary standards. In this Manufacturing Quality Engineering role based in Vietnam, you will independently own key quality deliverables and apply problem-solving skills to identify solutions to problems that may lack clear definition. You’ll work closely with suppliers to develop, audit, and improve manufacturing processes for mechanical parts. By balancing execution with critical thinking, you will be a key voice for quality—identifying root causes, driving corrective actions, developing smart tools to improve efficiency, and collaborating across teams to deliver products that delight our customers.

Description

The Manufacturing Quality Engineer will manage quality for enclosure mechanical parts including injection molding, painting, metal CNC, stamping, and forging. You will apply your developing domain expertise to improve deliverables, managing supplier quality development, issue resolution, reliability testing, and continuous improvement to ensure the highest product quality and reliability.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Computer Science, or a related field with 3+ years of relevant experience.
Proven experience managing quality activities such as FAI, IQC, IPQC, OQC, OBA, and quality control plans.
High proficiency in written and verbal English.
Based in Vietnam with a willingness to travel regularly to supplier sites within Vietnam, Southeast Asia, and China as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

AI & Automation Skills: Basic programming/scripting skills (e.g., Python, SQL) with experience in developing or leveraging simple AI tools (e.g., LLM integrations, basic machine learning models for defect detection, or data automation scripts) to solve engineering problems and improve efficiency.
GD&T & Stack-up Analysis: Exceptional knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing to predict and resolve assembly issues.
Jig and Fixture Design: Understanding of inspection jigs and automated measurement equipment design principles.
Statistical Analysis: Expertise in using JMP (highly preferred at Apple) or Minitab for advanced statistical analysis and data-driven decision making.
Advanced Metrology: Proficiency in operating CMM, OMM, and 3D scanning.
Industry Experience & Product Knowledge:Consumer Electronics: Experience in the consumer electronics industry (headphones, mobile phones, wearables, laptops) and its supply chain.
Key Process Knowledge: Extensive experience with plastic injection molding, coating/painting, metal stamping/CNC, surface treatments (anodization, sandblasting, PVD), and assembly.
Cosmetic Quality: Relentless pursuit of cosmetic quality with experience in establishing cosmetic and color standards.
Soft Skills & Work Approach:

Conversational Mandarin and/or fluent Vietnamese language skills are highly preferred.
