JOB DESCRIPTION:

Primary Job Responsibilities

Responsible for Procurement for Capex & Opex for Manufacturing plants (India, Vietnam, Indonesia & China), Corporate Services comprising of Supplies and services, Projects, R & D, Engineering, IT & Admin

Responsible for the purchasing and supply management activities for all categories and sub categories. Drive "One Abbott Procurement" vision across divisions globally and influences synergies among divisions. Work closely with key stakeholders in both Corporate and Division organizations to develop effective cost reduction strategies and implementation plans. Nurture stakeholder relationships by serving as a business partner, helping identify critical business requirements and providing sourcing and procurement services that meet expectations

Core Job Responsibilities

Responsible for handling the spend base for Capex and Opex procurement with items ranging from Engineering, R & D, Admin, IT, Distribution pertaining to machinery and spares, repairs, Annual Maintenance Contracts, Annual Rate contracts.

Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with Abbott’s manufacturing and investment roadmap.

Lead sourcing initiatives for capital equipment, automation systems, engineering services, construction projects, Facilities, MRO and Investment Recoveries

Partner with Engineering, Operations, Finance, GFO and Project Management teams to ensure procurement supports project timelines and technical specifications.

Drive supplier selection, negotiation, and contract execution for projects.

Manage supplier relationships to ensure performance, innovation, and risk mitigation.

Support capital planning processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and lifecycle cost analysis.

Lead cross-functional teams to deliver strategic sourcing outcomes.

Identify opportunities for cost reduction, process improvement, and supplier innovation.

Ensure compliance with GxP, EHS, and Corporate Procurement policies

Key Competency Requirement

Take ownership for individual targets on local & global level.

Recommend purchasing procedures to be included in various types of projects

Interfacing with external agencies for techno-commercial negotiations and sorting out critical issues for timely implementation of the project within the targeted cost

Spend base analysis to understand the cost reduction opportunities

To look for continual improvement of process & system thereby managing internal stakeholders

Proactively identifies areas of opportunity for new business opportunities, process improvement, and cost efficiencies

·Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

Conducting a monthly performance report by using the reporting templates in SAP

Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve

effectiveness

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Supply Chain, or related field; MBA or advanced technical degree preferred.

8+ years of experience in capital procurement, engineering, or project management.

Proven track record in sourcing capital equipment and managing large-scale investment projects.

Experience in regulated manufacturing environments (Pharma, Biotech, Nutrition).

Strong understanding of equipment lifecycle, asset performance, and risk management.

Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification desirable.

Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Strong analytical and financial acumen, including cost modeling and ROI analysis.

Experience working across regions and cultures.

Proficiency in procurement systems and digital sourcing tools.
