Job Description

The Manager of Patient Access (Financial Counseling) provides supervision to the department. They are responsible for effecting ongoing quality, productivity and efficiency of the financial counseling department staff as well as identifying ongoing opportunities for process improvements and implementing the same. Assure completion of required department functions including but not limited to upfront collections, financial assistance, Medicaid eligibility, birth certificates, cashiering, and patient responsibility pricing. The Manager of Patient Access (Financial Counseling) helps create a shared vision with staff of the department’s role in helping achieve mission, vision and acts consistently with our values.


Qualifications:


Education: Bachelor’s degree in business or related field is required.

Experience: Minimum of five to six years’ experience in collections, registration, insurance verification, financial counseling, and patient accounts/billing. Thorough knowledge of state and federal laws as they apply to charity care, agency assistance, and debt collection preferred. Customer service experience required. Prior leadership experience required. Minimum five years supervisory experience in a health care environment.

Additional skills required: All related regulatory/governing standards, policies, and procedures; SMS/Invision; application of safety and infection control policies and procedures; ability to develop job descriptions, learning plans, give and receive feedback, and coach and counsel staff; staffing, scheduling, and payroll processes; customer feedback and impact on core processes; delegation, team building, decision making, conflict management, change management skills; verbal and written communication skills that are sensitive to diversities among age groups, cultures, and educational levels.
