The purpose of this position is to perform essential duties that maintain the quality, appearance, and safety of the facilities and grounds of the state park. This position will make repairs to and maintain buildings, facilities, equipment, etc., as well as ensure the safety of the guests and staff, &nbsp;and assist as needed with maintaining grounds such as mowing, pressure washing, trail maintenance, etc.</div><span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-style: normal; text-indent: 0">One year of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR</span><br style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-style: normal; text-indent: 0"><br style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-style: normal; text-indent: 0"><span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-style: normal; text-indent: 0">Six semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses.</span>The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found <a href="https://apps01.civilservice.louisiana.gov/onestopjobinfo/DisplayJobSpec.aspx?JobCode=128650" target="_blank"><u>here</u></a>.<p style="margin: 15px 0; color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-indent: 0"><strong style="font-weight: 700"><u>Job Duties:</u></strong></p><ul style="padding-left: 2rem; margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 3pt; color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-indent: 0"><li>Makes general repairs to buildings, interiors, exteriors, furniture, fixtures, air conditioners, heating systems, and other mechanical and related fields such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and painting tasks.&nbsp;</li><li>Maintains and makes general repairs to a variety of motorized equipment including tune-ups, replacement and adjustment of worn or damaged parts, and assembly of major components to determine the extent of damage and repairs necessary.&nbsp;</li><li>Operates and checks for safety and maintenance of a wide variety of hand held equipment, motorized vehicles, tractors, etc.&nbsp;</li><li>Repairs and treats structures such as floors, showers, sinks, walls, roofs, carpets, etc.&nbsp;</li><li>Performs minor troubleshooting, repairs, and adjustments of locks on doors, cabinets, desks, closets, etc.&nbsp;</li><li>Performs routine preventative maintenance to ensure machines run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings is maintained.&nbsp;</li><li>Operates large equipment to include but not limited to vehicles, utility vehicles, all-terrain vehicles, front end mowers, skid steers, chippers, tractors, etc.&nbsp;</li><li>Assist with custodial duties to maintain clean and sanitary conditions in the facilities. This includes cleanliness of interior and exterior of facilities to include cabins, meeting rooms, pavilions, etc. Duties can include sweeping, mopping, removing trash and linens; cleaning picnic &nbsp;tables, fire rings, porches, etc.&nbsp;</li><li>Maintain grounds and trails to include trimming trees, clearing dead trees or branches, welding, fertilizing, road maintenance, etc.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;</li></ul><p style="margin: 15px 0; color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-indent: 0"><strong style="font-weight: 700"><u>Position-Specific Details:</u></strong><br><strong style="font-weight: 700">Location:&nbsp;</strong>Port Hudson State Historic Site in Jackson, LA<strong style="font-weight: 700">&nbsp;</strong><br><strong style="font-weight: 700">Appointment Type:&nbsp;</strong>Probational, Promotion, or Detail to Special Duty&nbsp;<br><strong style="font-weight: 700">Career Progression:&nbsp;</strong>This position may be filled as a Maintenance Repairer 1 or 2.<br><strong style="font-weight: 700">Work Schedule:&nbsp;</strong>State Parks are open 365 days a year. Position will work a rotating schedule of 40 hours/week, which can include holidays and/or weekends as needed, to ensure coverage at the park. &nbsp;<br><strong style="font-weight: 700">Travel:&nbsp;</strong>Position requires driving around the park as part of the daily shift. Travel may be required to other state parks to assist in staffing or events, as needed.
