Job description

To maintain, repair, troubleshoot and install manufacturing equipment in a plant environment.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  

    Must be physically, mentally, and educationally capable of performing the assigned duties

in a safe and efficient manner demonstrating the skills and tequnique required for the job function.



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS



• Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.             

• Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.   

        

• Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.                

• Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.  

            

• Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.       

  

• Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.     

  

• Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.  

• Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.       


• Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.        

  

• Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.  

• Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.        

  

• Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.    

  

• Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.       

  

• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.         

  

• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.


• Will work the required hours of the line including overtime hours

• Responsible for other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.          




 




ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS


• Background in Hydraulics, Welding, Machining and Fabricating to perform everyday troubleshooting is required.

.

• Basic Electrical knowledge and troubleshooting experience is a plus.

RELATIONSHIPS


Communicate and work cooperatively with Operation and Maintenance. 


SUPERVISION


 Works under the general supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor.


SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED


1. Reading, writing, and arithmetic.

2. Must have good Communication skills, have a team player approach, be goal focused, a self-starter, be highly motivated, and resourceful.

 3. General working knowledge of computer and Microsoft Excel software.


EDUCATION/TRAINING/CERTIFICATION/LICENSE REQUIRED


 Minimum – High School Diploma and/or three (3) to five (5) years related work experience operating manufacturing equipment.


WORKING CONDITIONS:


• Degree of Physical Demands (Strength) usually associated with this classification:


• Moderate to light work: Exerting up to twenty-five (25) pounds of force infrequently and exerting ten (10) to fifteen (15) pounds of force frequently. 


• Environmental Conditions (Physical Surroundings) usually associated with this classification:


• Incumbent is exposed to Manufacturing Plant conditions and infrequent exposure to loud noise(s).


• Environmental Conditions (Hazards) usually associated with this classification: 


• Infrequent exposure to Hi-Lo traffic.
