Job Description:

BW Papersystems is looking for a Maintenance Mechanic to Join our Team!

In this role, you will perform a wide range of operations related to the installation, repair and maintenance of the general plant, machinery and auxiliaries.  Work involves a variety of hand, bench and machine operations that require skill and a thorough knowledge of the machine trade to install, maintain and repair a wide variety of complicated machine tools.  Set up and operate typical machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, planer, burring mills, grinders and related equipment to repair or fabricate parts, including ordinary sheet metal work. 

Key Responsibilities/Complexities:

  • Work from drawings, sketches, manufacturers’ machine manuals, plant layout, specifications and instructions to move and install machines and equipment, make basic repairs and perform general maintenance duties. 

  • Assist with the diagnosis of basic machine and equipment trouble, tear down unit, repair or replace defective parts or mechanisms, reassemble and try out. 

  • Assist with installation of various attachments such as pumps, ducts, motors, tanks, guards, brackets and other accessories. 

  • Inspects completed repairs, requisitions new parts and equipment.

  • Perform basic plumbing and pipefitting installations to maintain air, water, oil, steam lines and circulating systems; repair toilets, pumps, valves, leaks and drainage systems.

  • Perform basic carpentry and masonry operations in general maintenance of building; pour concrete foundations for machine tools; perform ordinary welding and brazing operations as required.

  • Assist with the detection of defective materials or unusual conditions and report to proper supervision. 

  • Maintain equipment and work area in a safe and orderly condition.

  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

  • Be able to calculate decimals and fractions; must be able to perform basic shop math and arithmetic calculations.

  • Must have basic knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.

  • Basic knowledge of machine and equipment construction and operation; familiar with various maintenance trades.

  • Willingness to assist the maintenance team with other facility repairs and maintenance including but not limited to; snow removal, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, HVAC, and cleaning.

  • Possess good communication and interpersonal skills; be able to independently solve problems while interacting with various teams and teammates on daily processes and flow.  Must be capable of multi-tasking various duties throughout the day, have a positive attitude with an ability to be versatile and flexible.

Basic Qualifications & Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

  • 1+ years of experience working within a manufacturing environment having experience working with facility repairs, maintenance, or machine related experiences

The approximate pay range for this position is $24/HR - $34/HR. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position.
