This position is responsible for supervising and coordinating maintenance personnel while ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective operation of facility maintenance activities within a correctional environment.<br><br>The Maintenance Foreman will oversee the maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance of buildings, equipment, and infrastructure; OR<br><br>Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering plus two years of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR<br><br>Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses plus two years of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance.</div>The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found <a href="https://apps01.civilservice.louisiana.gov/onestopjobinfo/DisplayJobSpec.aspx?JobCode=129230" target="_blank"><u>here</u></a>.<p style="margin: 0 0 8pt"><u>Job Duties:</u></p>Engages in and/or supervises skilled inmate craftsmen in performing the following:<ul style="margin-bottom: 3pt"><li><strong>ELECTRICAL</strong> – the repair and installation of receptacles, transformer banks, Mult breakers, electrical wiring, fans, dishwashing and cooking equipment, security lights, generators, power lines, guide wires, and any other electrical work.</li><li><strong>PLUMBING</strong> – the installation of commercial appliances and plumbing fixtures, water and gas lines, adjustments of gas regulators, and related appliances and fixtures.</li><li><strong>CARPENTRY</strong> – repairing roofs, hanging doors, installing floor tiles, sheetrock, constructing shelves, guard rails, small buildings, and the laying of concrete blocks and bricks.</li><li><strong>WELDING</strong> – the maintenance and repair of water lines, calderas, gates, fences, gas lines (includes heavy equipment, and pressure boilers {with assistance of outside vendors}).</li><li><strong>MASONRY</strong> – the laying of brick, terra cotta, ceramic and hollow tile, and other building blocks.</li><li><strong>REFRIGERATION</strong> – the maintenance and repair of heating and air conditioning systems, refrigerators, several large walk-in coolers, ice makers and exhaust fans.</li></ul><strong>Work Environment:</strong><br><div style="margin: 0 0 8pt"><ul style="margin-bottom: 3pt"><li style="margin: 0 0 8pt">Employee will work with adult male inmates of all custody levels – minimum, medium, maximum (death row) and protective custody. &nbsp;&nbsp;</li></ul></div><p><br></p><p><u>Position-Specific Details</u>:&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Appointment Type:&nbsp;</strong>PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE<strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><ul type="disc" style="margin-bottom: 3pt"><li>Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.&nbsp;</li><li>An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.&nbsp;</li><li>This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment.
