LVT Section Supervisor - Internal Medicine

   

Join the Cornell University Hospital for Animals as the Internal Medicine LVT Section Supervisor, where you'll combine clinical expertise with leadership in one of the nation's premier academic veterinary hospitals. In this role, you'll oversee daily technical operations, mentor Licensed Veterinary Technicians and students, and help deliver exceptional patient care for a diverse internal medicine caseload. You'll collaborate with clinicians, faculty, and staff to improve workflow, support teaching, and foster a positive, inclusive team environment. The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

• Lead the Internal Medicine LVT team by coordinating staffing, workflow, scheduling, and daily clinical operations.

• Deliver exceptional patient care while supporting diagnostics, treatments, procedures, and client communication.

• Mentor and train LVTs, students, interns, and residents through hands-on instruction and coaching.

• Drive a collaborative, inclusive culture by improving processes, supporting staff development, and promoting operational excellence.

Employees working in the hospital must receive the pre-exposure rabies prophylaxis vaccination series prior to or immediately after hire, which will be paid for by the department.

Required Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology and New York State LVT license (or eligibility) with at least 5 years of LVT experience or equivalent.

• Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, or supervisory experience in a clinical setting.

• Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong coaching, conflict resolution, and team-building skills.

• Experience coordinating workflows and delegating responsibilities effectively.

• Ability and willingness to learn and teach while in this position.

• Experience and commitment to fostering a positive team culture, wellbeing, and professional growth.

• Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting and restraining animals over 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous LVT Section Coordinator or supervisory experience preferred.

Important Details about the Position

• This is an onsite position located in Ithaca, NY.

• We are unable to provide Visa sponsorship, now or in the future, for this position.

While the regular business hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, the specific schedule may change to meet the needs of the business, requiring employees to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and University holidays and scheduled breaks.
