Locum Consultant Geriatrician(s) up to Full-Time – Commencing September 28th 2026 through to at least Jan 17th 2027
About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated, flexible Consultant Geriatrician or Geriatricians to work within the Department of Geriatric Medicine, deployed into a range of areas to support extended leave cover. The commitment in terms of hours and duration will be negotiated by mutual agreement based on the availability of the successful applicant(s) and SVHM’s service requirements. While the existing need is through to January 17, 2007, it is likely that service growth or other staffing needs will create an opportunity of greater duration.
As a successful applicant, you will become part of a dynamic team which works across clinical rotations in acute and subacute care, consultation in public and private hospitals, transition and residential care facilities, specialty clinics and home, virtual and community services. You will be involved in the teaching of medical students from the University of Melbourne, junior medical and other staff, including participation in the supervision and mentoring of Advanced Trainees. You will be expected to become involved in hospital activities, including committees and other quality improvement or research activities.
Classifications for this position will range depending on experience, according to the Medical Specialists Enterprise Agreement 2022-2026 or its successor.
Given the short-term nature of the role, candidates with existing familiarity with St Vincent’s and its systems are preferred.

Your Contribution

- Full Registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- FRACP in Geriatric Medicine (or equivalent)
- Driver’s Licence
- Member of ANZSGM (desirable)
- Current National Criminal History check (or willing to obtain)

About the Department of Geriatric Medicine
The Department of Geriatric Medicine provides excellent multidisciplinary care across the continuum from the emergency department, acute and subacute bed-based services through to transition and residential, ambulatory and home-based care. Clinical services are based at St Vincent’s Hospital in Fitzroy and St Georges Health Service (SGHS) in Kew and extend into our catchment community from both locations.
