Job description
Our railroad is seeking an experienced Locomotive Mechanic to support the inspection, maintenance, and repair of diesel locomotives. This role is critical to ensuring safe and reliable operations across the rail network.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on diesel locomotives
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and air brake systems
Conduct preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing
Complete FRA-required inspections and documentation
Work with shop and field teams to ensure timely turnaround of equipment
Maintain a strong focus on safety and compliance standards

Qualifications
Experience working on GE and EMD locomotives required
Background in locomotive repair
Knowledge of air brake systems, electrical systems, and troubleshooting
Ability to read schematics and technical manuals
Strong safety mindset and ability to work in a team environment
Preferred:
Prior railroad experience (Class I or shortline)
Welding and fabrication experience
FRA certification experience
