JOB DESCRIPTION

The Sunday Live Video Switcher / Producer is responsible for directing and executing all live video elements for weekend services and key ministry events. This role oversees the technical operation of the video control room, ensures broadcast-quality execution, and leads the Video Production volunteer team in delivering distraction-free, visually engaging worship experiences. The position requires both hands-on technical proficiency and team leadership, balancing real-time production decisions with long-term team development and system improvement.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Live Video Production & Technical Direction

• Serve as the primary Live Video Switcher and Producer during Sunday services.
• Operate and direct switching on Blackmagic Design switchers (ATEM systems or similar).
• Execute camera cuts, transitions, lower thirds, playback elements, and live IMAG feeds in real time.
• Direct camera operators (including PTZ and manned cameras) via clear headset communication.
• Manage live program output for in-room screens, livestream feeds, and recordings.
• Coordinate timing between worship, speaking, graphics, and media playback elements.
• Troubleshoot technical issues during live services with composure and efficiency.
• Ensure proper camera shading, framing consistency, and visual storytelling standards. Oversee signal flow from camera input through switcher, routing, streaming, and recording outputs.

Systems Oversight & Workflow

• Maintain and improve video production workflows and service flow documents.
• Ensure proper setup, testing, and teardown procedures are followed weekly.
• Assist in maintaining video equipment, cabling, and signal integrity.
• Collaborate on upgrades, improvements, and future technical expansion.
• Help implement best practices for livestream quality, latency management, and redundancy planning.

Team Leadership & Volunteer Development

• Lead, recruit, equip, and care for volunteer video operators and producers.
• Train volunteers on switching, camera operation, shot composition, and communication protocols.
• Develop a pipeline for new volunteers through shadowing, hands-on training, and feedback.
• Create a culture of technical excellence, calm communication, and servant leadership. Schedule volunteers and ensure proper team coverage for all services.

Collaboration

• Work closely with the Service Programming Director, Production Team Leader, and Worship Leader to align visuals with the service vision.
• Coordinate with graphics, lighting, and audio teams to ensure cohesive execution.
• Participate in service planning / review meetings to anticipate technical needs and transitions.
