Description

About the team
TikTok Shop's Governance and Experience (GNE) is a global team that safeguards trust across our e-commerce marketplace — for buyers, sellers, and creators alike. We set the policies and rules that help sellers and creators grow in a fair, thriving ecosystem, detect and prevent fraud and abuse, and design the service and experience that resolve issues and build lasting trust with our customers. Partnering closely with business, product, engineering, and legal teams — and increasingly harnessing AI to govern and serve at scale — our work is what lets buyers shop with confidence, sellers and creators grow sustainably, and the business scale worldwide.
We're looking for passionate, curious people who care deeply about user experience and thrive on complex, high-stakes challenges. If you want your ideas to matter and your work to drive real impact, join us in building the future of e-commerce.

We are looking for talented individuals to join us for an internship. Our internship program offers students hands-on experience, industry exposure, and opportunities to apply their knowledge to real-world challenges while building a strong foundation for personal and professional growth.
Interns will gain practical experience, explore potential career paths, and participate in social events, learning programs, and development workshops alongside industry professionals.
Candidates may apply to a maximum of two positions across Our Company and its affiliates globally. Applications will be considered in the order they are submitted.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so we encourage you to apply early. Please clearly state your availability in your resume, including your start and end dates.

What's this role about?
The Governance team builds a thriving, safe, and fair marketplace ecosystem on TikTok Shop — shaping the policies, programs, and risk controls that help sellers and creators grow responsibly. As a Governance Intern, you'll work on real projects with the [Region] team and get first-hand exposure to how a global platform designs and enforces its rules at scale, including with AI.

Examples of what you'll work on:
- Assist in research on market regulations, industry practices, and emerging risks.
- Support data checks and analysis to monitor governance metrics and identify trends or root causes
- Help review real cases to surface insights that inform policy and enforcement improvements
- Support AI-assisted governance workflows: e.g. helping test prompts and evaluate the quality of AI-assisted outcomes
- Help prepare documentation, reporting, and cross-team communication for governance programs.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Data Science, Law/Public Policy, or related fields.
- Able to commit to a full-time internship of at least 3 months (please state your availability in your resume)
- Professional proficiency in English and Spanish
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; comfortable working with data
- Proactive, curious, and eager to learn in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment

- Comfort using AI tools in daily work is a plus; SQL/Python is a plus
