Description

About the Team:
This role will be in our Data Infrastructure Legal team. This is a global team with colleagues currently based in LA, London, Dublin, Sydney, Beijing and São Paulo. The team provides vital support for our global digital infrastructure expansion outside of China (including for TikTok and our enterprise products businesses). As demand for compute continues to grow, we provide integrated and commercially-driven legal advice across the full digital infrastructure stack (from data center capacity leasing to hyperscale cloud, to next-generation AI infrastructure).

We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive, resilient, and business-minded lawyer to support our strategic infrastructure and compute transactions.

Although not essential, the ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in two of the following:
- Data center capacity leasing: Colocation, build-to-suit, and capacity (space-and-power) arrangements
- Cloud: Complex or customized cloud agreements
- AI infrastructure: Emerging AI compute / GPU-as-a-Service capacity arrangements.

We are also open to candidates from adjacent capital-intensive, highly regulated, and technically complex sectors, such as energy, utilities, or large-scale network/edge infrastructure.

Sound legal and commercial judgement and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving, dynamic environment are essential.

Responsibilities
- Negotiate the full suite of contractual documentation for the leasing and delivery of data center capacity, including colocation, build-to-suit, and capacity (space and power) agreements with major data center developers and operators.
- Support power-related matters that are central to data center delivery, including power purchase, utility interconnection, and renewables.
- Negotiate cloud agreements across the stack, including large-scale and customized cloud capacity commitments and hyperscaler service agreements.
- Negotiate AI infrastructure arrangements, including AI compute capacity reservations and GPU-as-a-Service / accelerated-compute arrangements with neo cloud providers.
- Advise on laws and regulations relating to digital infrastructure and help drive the development and roll-out of standard policies and template agreements to improve efficiency and risk management.
- Distill complex information in order to deliver clear, precise and pragmatic advice to business and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Engage with a range of stakeholders (including our public policy team) to advocate and represent the company's interests in relation to digital infrastructure development.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited law school (or foreign equivalent) with active membership in at least one US State Bar.
- Outstanding stakeholder fluency and engagement.
- Exceptional team spirit, an open mind, and a willingness to take the initiative on a wide range of projects.
- The ability to bridge global cultural and skillset differences through expertise, insight, collaboration and strong project management skills.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AI infrastructure / GPU-as-a-Service arrangements (very strong plus).
- Adaptable and comfortable in operating and managing multiple priorities in a fast-moving, high growth environment.
- Ability to offer commercially-viable alternatives as part of risk management.
- Experience in developing new documentation and best practices and implementing legal processes in a fast-paced international environment which enables the business to scale.
