Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (Edge Systems Architect) - Sch of Engineering

[What the role is]

Nanyang Polytechnic is seeking a dynamic and experienced Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Edge Systems Architecture to contribute to our School of Engineering. This role involves teaching, curriculum development, and industry engagement within the rapidly evolving field of edge computing and distributed systems.

[What you will be working on]

* Develop and deliver engaging and industry-relevant curriculum in areas such as edge computing, IoT architectures, distributed systems, cloud-edge integration, embedded systems, and related programming languages/frameworks.
* Conduct practical laboratory sessions, projects, and assessments to enhance students' hands-on skills in designing, deploying, and managing edge systems.
* Mentor and supervise student projects, internships, and final year projects, guiding them in technical problem-solving and innovation.
* Engage with industry partners to understand emerging trends, identify collaboration opportunities, and integrate real-world scenarios into teaching.
* Participate in curriculum review and development, ensuring alignment with industry needs and technological advancements.
* Contribute to departmental and scool-wide initiatives, including outreach programs and faculty development.
* Conduct applied research or industry consultancy projects, where applicable, to enhance professional development and contribute to the polytechnic's knowledge base.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of edge computing technologies, standards, and best practices.

*Mentoring students from your personal mentor group and liasing with students in local and oversea attachment. Support school initiatives and promotion in Open house.

[What we are looking for]

*Education: Degree or Postgraduate qualification in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields.
* Proven industry experience (at least 3 years for Lecturer, 5+ years for Senior Lecturer) in designing, developing, or deploying edge computing solutions, IoT systems, or distributed architectures.
* Strong theoretical and practical knowledge in areas such as edge device management, edge AI, real-time data processing, network protocols for edge, containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes for edge), and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS IoT, Azure IoT Edge, Google Cloud IoT).
* Proficiency in programming languages relevant to edge systems (e.g., Python, C/C++, Go, Java, JavaScript) and experience with relevant frameworks/tools.
* Prior teaching experience at a tertiary institution or corporate training experience would be an advantage.
* Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and collaborate with industry partners.
* A passion for teaching and a commitment to nurturing the next generation of engineers.
