Lead Technician, Asset Technology

The Lead Technician, Asset Technology will be part of a team that executes various sensory-related tasks according to established processes and protocols in support of multiple research and development goals and business functions, while respecting and upholding dsm-firmenich Quality and SHE requirements and other relevant standards. They will maintain laboratory instrumentation, sensory references, lab supplies, record keeping and data management, as well as ensuring a clean, organized and efficient laboratory environment.

 

This position supports the sensory testing of ingredients as well as food/beverage applications fortified with dsm-firmenich ingredients required to implement improvements as a result of HNH Innovation projects and/or in support of customer needs.

 

Key Requirements:

  • Sets up and conducts sensory panels applying established sensory techniques, methods and protocols.
  • Able to independently prepare samples, order, and purchase supplies.
  • Maintains general housekeeping of the sensory labs.
  • Under supervision ensure that laboratory test standards, controls, references, raw materials, reagents, and solutions are purchased, labelled, and stored such that they are reliable, available when needed, and within expiration.
  • Prepares food ingredient and chemical references, adhering to safety guidelines and procedures including disposal of chemicals.
  • Sets up projects in Compusense and assists in maintenance and troubleshooting

You Bring:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science or closely related area of study
  • 1-3 years of experience in Sensory, Food science or a related field
  • Knowledgeable in use of Compusense software is a plus; enhanced computer skills, including knowledge of most common IT programs (e.g. Microsoft Office, Excel)
  • Requires the ability to apply basic statistical skills in the interpretation of sensory data
  • Involves applying technical expertise to organize daily sensory lab activities
  • Accurately execute assigned technical tasks and apply good judgement and problem-solving skills to identify solutions to daily challenges
  • Ability to work independently both under minimal supervision and cooperatively with others within a team environment; multitask within an established set of responsibilities with a high attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Cross train on new procedures and effectively execute new tasks under supervision
  • Good communication skills and an ability to follow priorities set by management and senior colleagues
 
The salary or hourly wage scale provided reflects the pay range dsm-firmenich expects to pay the successful candidate for the position. Individual pay offered will be based on the applicant’s job-related skills, experience, relevant education, or training, and primary work location.
