Lead Electrician (ORHVS) - Mining

Our client is one of the world's important diamond mines and South Africa's second largest diamond operation by production.

Job Description: The incumbent will be responsible for installation and maintenance of electrical infrastructure and will be required to maintain various plant and project installations according to sound engineering practice and equipment specifications.

Tasks and Responsibilities:
 Investigate, diagnose and perform trade related maintenance and repairs to equipment and machinery according to maintenance requirements
 Perform inspections in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act regulations, manufacturing and Company standards
 Report all defects and breakdowns on equipment and machinery to the Foreman
 Develop, modify, construct/fabricate and install related equipment required for the safe operation of all engineering equipment
 Identify spares requirements and order according to departmental procedure
 Communicate with clients and supervisors on maintenance activities performed and equipment handover
 Required to work according to the Mine’s Code of Practice, and report any observations of this not being done
 Ensure personal and co-workers’ adherence and compliance to Security and Company’s SHE objectives
 Work overtime, do standby and be available for call-outs should the need arise

Minimum Requirements:
 Qualified Electrician with Trade Certificate at recognized /accredited institution
 Valid Public Driver’s License Code EB (08)
 5 years’ experience as an Electrician in a plant/project environment
 At least 3 years’ experience in the maintenance and operation of MV switchgear and distribution transformers
 At least 3 years’ experience in MV switching with valid ORHVS certificate
 Knowledge of basic protection schemes and metering systems
 Should have proven ability to understand MV panel control wiring circuit diagrams
 Ability to do fault finding on MV control panel should be seen as major advantage
 PC Literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office (MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint) and Windows System 

Other Skills / Competencies
 Pass Vienna Assessment (Level 2) - (test to be tested on mine)
 Ability to communicate in English (written & verbal) and one other official language
 Planning, leading and organizational abilities
 Independent, proactive thinking, motivated and have the ability to do own job planning
 Electrical Construction work and planning thereof
