Mechanical Instrumentation Engineering Technician

Description

This position is for a Mechanical Instrumentation Technician in the Engineering Test Services group. The primary responsibility for this role is fabricating mechanical components and sensor installations used in support of product development and test. The ideal candidate will have 6+ years of practical, hands on experience with fabrication processes and equipment. A wide variety of creativity and latitude is expected.

Required responsibilities to include, but not limited to the following:

Operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, EDM’s to produce custom hardware.
Know and execute correct fabrication processes to produce hardware from electronic or written blueprints.
Installation of various sensors that typically include temperature, pressure, vibration, and capacitance.
Knowledge of strain gage and thermocouple applications would be beneficial.
Fabricate tooling and fixtures of own design to successfully accomplish tasks.
Effectively communicate job estimate and status with work group and internal customers.
