Laboratory Technician – PCB Materials (m/f/d)

Role Overview:  

We are looking for a Laboratory Technician – PCB Materials to join the Technology Department within our Advanced Materials division at the Advanced Materials Innovation Center in Basel, Switzerland. The role focuses on laboratory work supporting the development of advanced thermoset materials for printed circuit boards (PCBs) and other electronics applications.

We are looking for a hands-on and detail-oriented laboratory professional who enjoys practical formulation work, material testing and structured data analysis in an innovation-driven environment.

Role Responsibilities: 

As a Laboratory Technician – PCB Materials, you will be responsible for: 

  • Performing lab-scale formulation trials, including filled polymer formulations, and conducting material characterization tests to support product innovation activities.

  • Planning and organizing laboratory work in collaboration with internal functions to ensure assignments are completed on time and aligned with business priorities.

  • Documenting laboratory procedures and experimental work systematically, and preparing technical reports based on experimental results.

  • Coordinating maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment in accordance with quality management standards and keeping laboratory documentation up to date.

  • Maintaining stocks of laboratory materials and chemicals, and organizing the preparation and dispatch of customer samples.

  • Applying a structured, data-driven approach to experimental work to generate high-quality data and support reliable interpretation of results.

  • Ensuring all activities comply with Environment, Health and Safety principles, Ethics & Compliance requirements and International Trade Compliance guidelines.

Experience and Competencies: 

We are looking for candidates with practical laboratory experience in polymer materials, strong attention to detail and the ability to work reliably across multiple projects.

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in applied chemistry or engineering, or a completed laboratory technician apprenticeship.

  • At least three years of experience in the processing or formulation of polymeric materials.

  • Experience with epoxy and acrylate components, inorganic-filled formulations, PCB materials, applications or processing would be an advantage.

  • Knowledge of laboratory safety and the ability to work in accordance with SOPs.

  • Hands-on experience with material testing and characterization techniques.

  • Experience with data analysis platforms would be an advantage.

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail and a commitment to data quality.

  • Ability to work across multiple projects and collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, supported by strong communication skills.

  • Passion for learning and a continuous improvement mindset.

  • Fluency in English; knowledge of an additional language would be an advantage.
