Job Summary

The Laboratory Technician will support a variety of research projects by preparing rock samples for whole-rock chemistry measurements, as well as collecting and processing data.

Essential Job Duties

• Precision weighing of samples and reagents.
• Maintenance of traceable logbook of samples.
• Laboratory housekeeping to avoid sample contamination.
• Operation of X-ray fluorescence spectrometer, loss-on-ignition oven, and flux-melting machine.
• Operation of hydraulic press and laser-ablation mass spectrometer.
• Data curation.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geological Science or related field.
