L3 Storage Architect (NetApp & Ceph) (m/w/d) – Winterthur Area

We are seeking an experienced L3 Storage Architect (NetApp & Ceph) to provide technical leadership and architectural expertise for enterprise storage platforms. The role is responsible for designing, governing, and optimizing NetApp and Ceph storage environments, ensuring high performance, scalability, resilience, and operational excellence. As a senior technical authority, you will lead complex storage initiatives, support critical escalations, and translate business and infrastructure requirements into robust storage solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and govern enterprise storage architectures based on NetApp and Ceph technologies.
• Provide expert guidance on storage performance, availability, scalability, and resilience.
• Architect and maintain data protection, backup, recovery, and lifecycle management strategies.
• Support CSI integrations and storage services for containerized and cloud-native platforms.
• Lead capacity planning, performance analysis, and storage optimization initiatives.
• Act as the escalation point for complex storage incidents and root cause investigations.
• Develop storage standards, operational procedures, and governance frameworks.
• Ensure storage platforms remain secure, supportable, and aligned with overall infrastructure architecture.
• Collaborate with compute, cloud, Kubernetes, networking, and security teams on end-to-end platform design.

Required Qualifications:

• Extensive experience designing and supporting enterprise storage environments.
• Strong expertise in NetApp ONTAP, NetApp AFF A-Series systems, and Ceph storage platforms.
• Deep understanding of storage architecture, data protection, replication, high availability, and disaster recovery concepts.
• Experience integrating enterprise storage solutions with virtualized, cloud, and containerized environments.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex storage and infrastructure issues.
• Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Certifications:

• NetApp Certified Data Administrator (NCDA)
• NetApp Certified Implementation Engineer (NCIE) for ONTAP, SAN, and/or Data Protection
• Red Hat Ceph Storage Administration certification or equivalent Ceph training
• Additional Security, Network, Storage, or Compute infrastructure certifications are advantageous

Language Requirement:

• German language proficiency at minimum B2 level is mandatory.
• The role requires the ability to participate in technical discussions, architecture reviews, incident coordination, service reviews, change management activities, and day-to-day communication with German-speaking stakeholders, customers, and operational teams.

Citizenship Requirement:

• Applicants must hold Swiss citizenship.

• Candidates should be based in, or regularly available within, the Winterthur region to support local operational alignment, customer engagement, coordination with onsite and remote-hands teams, and participation in governance, escalation, and service review meetings as required.
