Job description

Kura Gallery at UltraSuperNew is an interactive space that curates and brings together creatives from all backgrounds to ignite discovery, imagination, and conversation. It is as a launchpad for experimental collaborations between artists, designers, and innovators alike.

We are looking for a reliable, curious, and people-friendly students, freelancers, or anyone looking to help manage our Kura space, a curated gallery/creative shop connected to the UltraSuperNew Gallery in Harajuku.

This is a part-time role perfect for someone who loves art, design, and connecting with people. You’ll be the first face visitors see when they enter the space, helping them discover new artists, explore new ideas, and feel welcome.

What You’ll Do:

  • Open and close the Kura space independently
  • Greet visitors and introduce the current artist(s) and exhibition concept
  • Manage on-site sales and process payments
  • Keep the gallery space tidy and visually on point
  • Collect basic visitor info and feedback
  • Support events, talks, and openings (approx. 4 per month, usually weekday evenings)

What We’re Looking For:

  • Fluent in both Japanese and English
  • Friendly and confident in speaking with people from all walks of life
  • Genuinely interested in art, culture, or creative industries
  • Reliable, responsible, and comfortable working independently
  • A good eye for presentation and a love for well-curated spaces

Schedule

  • Every Saturday from 11:00am to 7:00pm
  • 4 evenings per month, approx. 4–5 hours per event
